Thich Nhat Hanh, my teacher, is a vegan. He has a page on FB, and there are some pages devoted to him. One of his monastics, Phap Tu, also has a page; in fact, I think he has a two. One is under his name and one under Dharmavira. I’m reassured to find vegan Buddhists as I think that, as a community, Buddhists have not paid sufficient attention to the suffering of the animals.

Well, I’m not much of an internet person myself. There is http://mpbvf.wordpress.com but that isn’t really active, interesting material though. It has been my experience not many people are interested in vegetarianism/veganism even thouigh they call themselves Buddhists.
For the Mahayana followers it says specifically to be vegan, NOT just for monks either, in the Surangama sutra.
But most folks join some Sangha, meditate a little, and impress their friends by telling them they have become Buddhists. The precepts, the Bodhisatva vows, they’re re-interpreted so one’s lifestyle needn’t change.
    Sad. Respectfull, y Fred
